ILLiad First Time User Intructions

- To set up an ILLiad account go to: ILLiad
To register for an account: click new user.
Sign in with your CSHL email/Windows username and password: e.g. smith and your password.
Pick a new password (easy to remember), and enter it again.
It must be 6 characters, lowercase and different from your email/Windows password.
Once you have filled out the registration information, log out.
- Set up a MyNCBI link to CSHL
If you don't already have a My NCBI account in PubMed, you need to register.
Go to PubMed.
In the upper right hand corner, click on My NCBI and register.
After registering, but before closing out,
Click "Outside Tool" on the left hand tool bar.
Scroll down to the C's and click on Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
to link you with the lab.
- Getting Articles fromPubMed
To retrieve or order an article when searching in PubMed, either
click on the citation or the yellow rectangle next to the citation.
Click on the blue CSHL Find It! button.
If the library subscribes to the journal online, you will be able to download a pdf from the journal.
If we have it in print, you will see a link to the library catalog.
If we don't subscribe to the particular year or to the journal, click the ILLiad link. Log on with your username and ILLiad password (new easy to remember password).
The request form for the specific article will already be filled in for you.
Add any necessary additional comments or grant numbers.
Hit submit at the bottom of the form and the request will be sent to the CSHL ILL Office (Gail).

If you don't see the ILLiad link, click on "Advanced", then click on ILLiad and log on.
If we subscribe to the journal in print and you don't want to retrieve it yourself, you may request the article through our CSHL Document Delivery service for a $2.50 service fee, click on "Advanced", then click on ILLiad and log on.
