     A signature for multicopper oxidases is found in F6P23.6 from residue 650 to 670 [GLFEYKSVLYGYGRLGLFDDM]. This signature is found in many different oxidizing enzymes, but does not itself confer the ability of the protein to bind copper. Blood coagulation factors V and VIII, for example, do not possess the copper binding motif, but nonetheless belong to the family of multicopper oxidases.
