Admittedly, it is possible that the initial methionine begins at position 67401 and that the resulting peptide begins with MKRRLSK. However, because the name of the maize protein is based upon a process and not its biochemical role and because incorporation of purely hypothetical alternate exons does not extend the similarity shown, the model of gene T13L16.14 is as indicated above.
