Comparison of T13L16.14 (top) to Z. mays IIG2 physical impedence protein (bottom). Admittedly, it is possible that the initial methionine begins at position 67401 and that the resulting peptide begins with MKRRLSK. However, because the name of the maize protein is based upon a process and not its biochemical role and because incorporation of purely hypothetical alternate exons does not extend the similarity shown, the model of gene T13L16.14 is as indicated above.
