Sequence-ready map for the short arm and the centromeric region of the long arm of chromosome IV. The figure below depicts selected markers from the Lister & Dean RI map, the YAC tiling path, and the sequence-ready BAC tiling path built by hybridization and fingerprint data. Certain YACs and BACs are clickable and take the viewer to pages specific for that particular clone. Clones below this region are being sequenced by ESSA III. A tiling path of 33 BACs extends south from the NOR toward the centromere. We have constructed a BAC contig around HY4 that joins YAC contigs II and III of Schmidt, et al. (1995) on the long arm. This contig is being sequenced jointly by CSHL and ESSA (European Arabidopsis Sequencing project). Two other BAC contigs in the centromeric region are also presented, but conflict with the YAC map. Confirmation of this map is pending. The HY4 contig joins that of ESSA III and not all BACs in the HY4 contig will be sequenced by CSHL.
